Carry On legend Julian Holloway has passed away at the age of 80, with tributes being paid to Sophie Dahl's beloved actor father.

Known for his iconic roles in the Carry On film series, Julian graced the screen in eight films from 1967 to 1976, including fan favourites like Carry On Camping and Carry On Up The Khyber, as well as starring in a Carry On Christmas TV special.

His impressive career in television and film lasted an incredible 47 years, with notable performances such as a leading role in the Doctor Who series Survival, marking the end of the sci-fi show's original run.Tributes have been flooding in for the esteemed actor, with Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes taking to Facebook to write: "Oh I am very sad.

Wonderful man. Wishing you and all his family long life.Too many going." Actress Sarah Douglas also honoured her friend, saying: "I lost a dear friend yesterday and I'm so, so sad.
