Carlos Alcaraz has come out in full support of Emma Raducanu and has revealed his sympathy for her after she pulled out of her mixed doubles clash with Andy Murray.Former US Open champion Raducanu exited Wimbledon in the fourth round to Lulu Sun, however, her defeat is secondary to the incredible fallout to her calling time on starring with the retiring Scottish superstar at SW19.
A storm brewed when Murray's mum, Judy, tweeted her astonishment on Saturday night – a verdict she later insisted was merely sarcasm.
The public have come out swinging to support her and now Raducanu has another ally in the form of tennis superstar Alcaraz.The Spaniard – aiming for a fourth grand slam at the age of 21 – moved to talk up Raducanu but also conceded the call to remove herself from doubles action was a tough situation for all involved.
Speaking after reaching the quarter final, Alcaraz said: "It’s a difficult situation. She said she was going to play mixed doubles with Andy in the last Wimbledon of his career.
