Care home being used to look after coronavirus patients leaving hospital

A Bury care home is joining the fight against coronavirus as one of the UK's first Nightingale care homes. Gorsey Clough Nursing Home, in Tottington, will take on people well enough to be discharged from hospital but not yet ready to return to their own care home.

It will also provide end of life care to some of the sickest patients from nearby hospitals. Preparations for the 11-bed facility, which will be kept separate from the rest of the home, have been taking place for almost a month with the support of Bury Council and the NHS.

It is hoped that the home, in Harwood Road, will be able to accept patients from this week. Craig Priestly, manager at Gorsey Clough, said: "Some care homes are refusing to accept people back from hospital
