Cannes Review: Riley Keough’s and Gina Gammell’s ‘War Pony’

Austin Butler has revealed he ‘put his life on hold for two years to prepare for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic celebrating the music legend. The 30-year-old actor said he studied the late icon so intensely he ‘fell down a rabbit hole of obsession’ in order to unearth his ‘humanity’ for the big screen.

The stars of the new movie Elvis, directed by Baz Luhrmann, stepped out for a press conference and photo call at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

“When we made this, we wanted to make it theatrical to bring audiences into theaters,” said Baz Luhrmann at the Cannes press conference for Elvis, the morning after the pic received the longest standing ovation of the fest at ten minutes.

IT’S almost as if Elvis Presley never left the building. Nearly 45 years after his death, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll is back – on the big screen, at least.

Elvis Presley, has spoken about the “emotional experience” of watching Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis at Cannes Film Festival.“It’s very intense to watch when it’s your family,” the actor/director told Variety. “The first movie I ever watched in the theater and said I wanted to make movies was ( Luhrmann’s) Moulin Rouge when I was 12. It was a real honour to know Baz was doing this movie.
