Canada Selects ‘Eternal Spring’ As Best International Feature Film Entry At The Oscars

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Colin Farrell’s upcoming Apple series “Sugar” has added five new cast members, Variety has learned. James Cromwell (“Succession,” “Babe,” “Six Feet Under”), Anna Gunn (“Breaking Bad,” “Deadwood”), Dennis Boutsikaris (“Better Call Saul,” “Mayfair Witches”), Alex Hernandez (“Invasion,” “Bloodshot”), and Lindsay Pulsipher (“The Beast,” “True Blood”) have all joined the series. Cromwell and Gunn will recur, while Boutsikaris, Hernandez, and Pulsipher will be series regulars. Along with Farrell, previously announced cast members include Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Amy Ryan. Exact plot and character details for the show remain under wraps, aside from the fact that it is described as a genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story set in Los Angeles.

Gabrielle Union is always down for a return to the  universe and she's got a great idea for the next installment! Last week, the 49-year-old actress teased fans on Twitter when she shared an idea for a sequel to the 2000 film that kicked off a cheerleading phenomenon.Union starred as Isis, the head cheerleader for the East Compton Clovers, opposite Kirsten Dunst's Torrance Shipman, newly minted head cheerleader for the Toros from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego. Isis and Torrance locked horns when Torrance learned that her team had been stealing their winning routines from Isis' Clovers. was followed by six direct-to-video sequels, none of which featured appearances from the original cast. Thursday marked the 22nd anniversary of the film's release, and Union responded to a tweet celebrating the occasion by noting that the length of time had interesting implications for the film's characters.

Harry Styles is known to add humor into his concerts by chatting with members of the audience, reacting to fan's signs and even making phone calls. Lots of items have been thrown Styles' way before, but at his Saturday night Madison Square Garden show, a new item was thrown the singers way… cold chicken nuggets.  Of course, Styles acknowledged the multiple nuggets that were flung his way during the NYC show.  "Very interesting, very interesting approach," the "As it Was" singer said as he held the piece of chicken in his hand.  "Who threw the chicken nugget?" he asked the crowd.

The submission period for this year’s awards for film and television is now open, while the nominating committee has already been formed. The nominations voting period for the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards begin on Dec. 5 and close on Jan. 8. The nominations will be announced Jan. 11, four days before the Critics Choice Awards ceremony. The final voting opens on Jan. 18 and closes on Feb. 24. The awards are still without a TV berth, after longtime partner TNT and its sister network TBS dropped the show during the continued downsizing at Warner Bros.-Discovery following the merger.

Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer A judge on Monday denied a defense request to postpone Harvey Weinstein’s trial in Los Angeles in order to avoid publicity for “She Said,” a feature film about the exposure of sex abuse allegations against him. Weinstein is set to go on trial on 11 counts of rape and sexual assault on Oct. 10, and the case is expected to last at least through the end of November. “She Said,” a film based on the book by New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, is due out from Universal on Nov. 18. The film is also expected to have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, which runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 16.

After the death of their mother, Iman starts a business thanks to his connections with the city’s affluent youth, but these new opportunities bring him on a dangerous path affecting his family’s destiny. “We are proud to be a part of San Sebastian’s New Directors competition with this new voice from Iranian cinema,” said Nicolas Eschbach at Indie Sales. “Emad (Aleebrahim Dehkordi) depicts the reality of the Iranian youth living in parts of Tehran that have seldom been seen before,” Eschbach continued.
