Cambuslang Rangers in 'seven-team dog fight' to stay in WoS First Division

Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl’s target for the second half of the West of Scotland First Division season is avoiding relegation, and says they’re in a seven team dog-fight.McColl admits the first half of the campaign hasn’t gone as he had hoped, with Camby 13th in the 16-team league.He takes some solace in his belief that anybody from Maybole in 10th could occupy one of the three drop-zone places, and will battle as hard as he can to avoid tumbling into the Second Division.But McColl knows he needs to string some wins together to have any chance of that.“It hasn’t gone that well, if I’m being honest,” said McColl, who saw his side’s clash at Kilbirnie on Saturday beaten by the weather.“It has been a bit of a disappointment, the way the season has panned out – we were expecting to be a bit further up the league.“I knew it was a tough league anyway, but it didn’t help that we lost everybody from last season, through guys wanting the same money despite going down a division – and they’re the ones that got us relegated – and some others wanted to stay in the Premier League, which you can understand.“We had a totally new team, and nowhere near the same quality of players, which is why we’re in this position.“Money-wise as well, Saturday there was our eighth week without a home game, and I just can’t see that going on the way it is.“I don’t know who we can turn to, but that’s us without any income at all for two months.“I don’t know why they can’t do home-away, home-away – I just don’t get it.
