Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

At 3.30 on a Tuesday, Callum McGregor is usually just in from training, the kettle is on and he’s about to put his feet up and watch Homes Under the Hammer or A Place in the Sun.

But the Celtic captain won’t be dreaming of a holiday home this afternoon, with Ferencvaros in town in the Europa League. And he certainly won’t be allowing his thoughts to be dragged back to the last time the Hungarians were in Glasgow, when it’s was Celtic’s home under the hammer.

The Champions League qualifying exit to Ferencvaros last August was a dark spot for the club, a real pain in the bum rather than a place in the sun.

It was a result that kicked off a chain reaction of events that ended up with 10 in a Row in the bin and manager Neil Lennon packing
