One of Scotland’s top eagle experts has pleaded for a lifetime ban on a wildlife centre owner who kept birds in sickening conditions.
Conservationist Dave Anderson was shocked by conditions at the Scottish Eagle Centre, owned by Andrew Knowles Brown, 69, in Elvanfoot, Lanarkshire.A major probe into falconer Knowles Brown led to him being found guilty of keeping up to 90 eagles and other large, valuable birds in squalid conditions.Anderson inspected the premises after an investigation was launched by the SSPCA and said he was traumatised by having to hold a tawny eagle as a vet euthanised it on the spot.He said: “The bird’s wings were badly damaged, it had been suffering for a long time.
What sickened me most was that Knowles Brown showed no remorse.”Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
