Call the Midwife's Joyce star's previous roles from Netflix star to BBC comedy

The much-loved BBC One drama, Call the Midwife, is set to return this Christmas with new midwife Joyce Highland, played by Renee Bailey.

The show will be back on BBC One for two special episodes of the beloved period drama, featuring all the familiar characters.

The previous season, set in 1969, introduced us to the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House, including pupil midwives Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford, who are both returning for the festive double bill.

The Christmas specials promise a range of medical challenges, such as influenza and the Hong Kong flu, along with an escaped prisoner storyline.
