They’re also a snapshot of Broadway in progress.   After the events of 2020 prompted a wave of public pledges and new initiatives aiming to expand equity and diversity across all sectors of the business, this year’s nominations give theatermakers a chance to check on the change. No nominations list can render a complete picture of an industry and no one would argue that Broadway is done with the work, but all of this year’s nominees say they’re conscious of the ways the nominations reflect a larger, industry-wide shift.  “I think this year shows we are gradually getting better,” says Bonnie Milligan, a 2023 nominee (and, for many, the frontrunner) for featured actress in a musical. The plus-sized actor finds herself in the Tony conversation for “Kimberly Akimbo” after what she describes as years of “getting typed out of so many rooms because of my size.”

Now, with the end in sight, fans will be wondering when a fourth season is likely to drop.There is yet to be an official announcement about when the show will return for a fourth season.

Blondshell has spoken out about how ageism in the music industry made her feel “too old” to be a success.The LA-based artist who was speaking on NME‘s The Cover this week, is only 26 but the singer-songwriter said that she was made to feel that by her late teens and early twenties, she might be considered “too old” to make it in music.“There’s that horrible thing where people say you have to be under a certain age to be a musician, and I felt that because it was explicitly said to me,” she said. “The idea was always there through media and people talking about the music industry – there was always an emphasis on youth and this idea that you write your best songs before a certain age.”The pressure to find success before she got too deep into adulthood was exacerbated by her gender, which added the need to fit into beauty and age standards.“It affected my sense of urgency in a very painful and stressful way,” she said.

The film’s story was adapted into a seven-episode arc for season two of the TV series, essentially covering the same events.So while the movie and seven-episode arc are worth watching in their own right, you’ll only need to see one of them to keep up with the story.As for the second movie, To The Swordsmith Village, it’s a similar situation.
