A boy who was out for a walk with his mum was left brain-damaged after a bus driver struck him in the back of the head with his wing mirror as he drove past.
Kevin Facer was driving the vehicle with passengers onboard and was oblivious to the collision, which left the teenager, aged 16, lying on the pavement with life-changing injuries.
Leicestershire Live reports that Facer, 66, who has been a bus driver for 49 years, was traced by police and charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident.
However, the failure to stop charge was dropped after a defence expert was prepared to testify that Facer's explanation that he did not notice the collision was believable.
