A beloved Italian restaurant has announced it is closing after its head chef was diagnosed with cancer and a boss fell seriously ill.
Pizzeria Bella Italia - loved by celebs and generations of Bury families - will shut in December. The restaurant is by sisters Luisa Melidoni, 52, and Michelle Desiderio, 58.
Luisa's husband Salvatore Melidoni is head chef. Luisa, 52, said her sibling found out she was sick in April and has been unable to work.
Her husband was diagnosed a few months ago and recently had an operation. Facing running things alone, she said she couldn't turn down an offer to sell up when approached. "It wasn't in the plan to sell just yet," Luisa added.
