Rachel Reeves has announced a 'flat rate duty' on vaping liquid in the Autumn Budget. The Chancellor said the tax will be introduced on all vaping liquid from October 26.

There will also be a one-off increase in tobacco duty to maintain the incentive to give up smoking, Ms Reeves said as she delivered the Budget in the House of Commons this afternoon.

After the announcement was made, HM Treasury posted on X: "We want to discourage non-smokers & young people from taking up vaping.

From 1 Oct 2026, we’re introducing a vaping duty for the first time at £2.20 per 10ml of liquid. Plus a one-off tobacco duty rise to keep the incentive to choose refillable vaping over smoking."
