As the living subject of the next highly-anticipated musical biopic, Bruce Springsteen is applauding his onscreen counterpart’s performance.
Although he admitted it was “a little [weird] at first” seeing Jeremy Allen White play him in writer/director Scott Cooper‘s Deliver Me from Nowhere, ‘The Boss’ had nothing but praise for the 2x Golden Globe winner’s portrayal. “But you get over that pretty quick,” he said on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio of the weird on-set experience. “And Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it.
He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize. He’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.” Springsteen also had positive reviews for White’s singing voice. “He sings well, he sings very well,” the 20x Grammy winner added. “And Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young, there’s just a tremendous cast of people.
They cast the film beautifully, so it’s very exciting.” White previously expressed his excitement to Deadline about taking on the role as he arrived at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards in September. “I’m so excited to start this thing.
