Brother of ex-Rangers winger agrees East Kilbride Thistle move

East Kilbride Thistle have snapped up a third player from Pollok on a pre-contract agreement after announcing the signing of Joseph McPake.The midfielder, who is the younger brother of former Rangers winger Josh, will join the Jags at the end of the current season from the Glasgow club’s development team.His arrival follows the news last week that defender Mathew Mullen and forward Ryan Menzies will also join in the summer from Lok.

Jags boss Aaron Connolly told Lanarkshire Live Sport : “Joe is an attacking midfield player and technically very astute. “He is really good with the ball, he wants to attack players and create opportunities and score goals.“Joe will fit into our attacking system really well.“He is Josh McPake’s brother and should be a great signing for us.“We are working on other things and there is potentially a couple of more signings to come.”The West of Scotland Development League has already proved fruitful for the Jags this season, with striker Mitchell Rooney netting 18 goals in 23 appearances since his move from Neilston’s development teamConnolly added: “My staff and I watched a lot of the Development League and we have obviously picked up Mitchell Rooney from Neilston in that league last season and he has gone on to have a very strong season for us, adapting well to adult football.“We have always kept a close eye on teams and players performing well at that level because we want to be a club that promotes and gives opportunities to players who are maybe not getting them at other stages of the pyramid.“Pollok are a strong side at the top end of the league and we were alerted to them and picked Joe out with Ryan and Matthew as players most ready for adult football and ready to fit into out team.“I
