Brits warned not to infect grandparents after biggest daily case rise since May

Young Brits have been warned not to infect their grandparents amidst soaring coronavirus cases. It was reported this afternoon that the UK saw nearly 3,000 new coronavirus cases over the past day, the highest increase in more than three months.

The 2,988 new confirmed infections are up from the 1,813 infections announced yesterday, marking the biggest single-day jump since May 23.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he was "concerned" about a rise in cases "predominantly among young people".
