People are being urged to be prepared in case snow leads to disruption at home. And British Gas advice suggests we should stock up on ice among other things.

They say it's prudent to prepare your fridge and freezer in anticipation of a potential power cut. Freezing essentials like milk, meat, and poultry is a good place to start, as it may extend their shelf life during electricity outages. "Buy appliance thermometers for both your fridge and freezer to check that they stay safe during a power cut (-18°C for freezers and 4°C for fridges)," they continued, before adding: "Keep some bagged or dry ice at home." Britain is set for a blast of icy weather this week, with the Met Office issuing warnings across three days.

The chilly conditions are expected to hit Manchester, Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent and several other major English cities, as well as Northern Ireland, Ireland and northern Scotland.

From Monday to Wednesday, some areas are urged to watch out for slippery pavements, untreated roads and potential transport delays, while others have been warned about possible power cuts.
