A dad is feared dead after he was swept away whilst attempting to save his teenage son on holiday.According to his 15-year-old son, the 49-year-old British man disappeared beneath the waves during the incident at Pomponette lagoon in Mauritius last Saturday morning.
A search was launched in the waters surrounding the tropical island.As of Monday afternoon, the dad had not been found, sparking fears he has died.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said they were "supporting the family" of British man who had died in Mauritius and were currently "in contact with the local authorities."The tragedy struck only one day after the man, his partner and his son arrived in Mauritius last Friday, reports The Mirror.
They had been due to leave on March 30. A huge search and rescue operation began shortly after 10.15am on Saturday shortly after the pair got into difficulty, with the national coast guard and a police helicopter dispatched to the scene.
