A British tourist has been found dead on a beach in Crete after laying motionless on a sun bed for hours. The 54-year-old man was discovered by concerned beachgoers at around 8pm on Saturday (July 16).
After going over to check on him, the fellow According to the Mirror realised he was unconscious and called emergency services.
According to the Mirror, the incident took place at the Stalida beach in the municipality of Hersonissos. The Brit had been spotted enjoying the sun earlier in the day, however after those nearby noticed that he hadn't moved for several hours an ambulance was called, local media reports.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to perform CPR but couldn't save him. He was then taken to Heraklion University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.Stalida is considered one of Crete's most well known and popular destinations.
