A person has died after being hit by a train near Warrington. The person was tragically struck on the main line running from Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington Central at around 9.15am this morning (Monday).
Trains to Manchester from Liverpool also run on this line. Officers are working to identify the person, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said.

Disruption is expected until lunchtime as emergency services respond to the incident. Northern services between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street are currently cancelled or delayed.
