Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

mirror.co.ukBoris Johnson has announced that from tomorrow councils will be given wideranging powers to contain the local outbreaks of Covid-19.
Local authorities will be given the powers to shutdown local areas if the virus begins to spread. They will include the powers to close whole sectors, impose ‘stay at home’ orders and prevent people arriving or leaving areas.
Council chiefs will also have the powers to restrict transport and limit max number of people at gatherings. It comes after a breakout of the virus in Leicester led to a two week lockdown, which was partially eased yesterday.
Speaking at a press conference in Downing Street the PM also confirmed that the NHS will get an extra £3 billion in funding to prepare for a possible second wave
