Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels died this morning (July 6) of a stroke. Brad Paisley, who first shared a bill with Daniels when he was 15, remembered Daniels, his musicianship and their deep friendship.I opened for him at the Capitol Music Hall at the Wheeling Jamboree.
I was 15. I probably met him [briefly].I didn’t really meet him until years later. I think it was on a festival (in the late-‘90s).
He came on the bus to say, “Son, you're doing some things out there. There's quite a buzz about you.” It was one of those things where you could tell he was ready to be really supportive of any new guy he liked like that.
