Boy George, otherwise known as George Alan O'Dowd, was born in June 1961 in Barnehurst in Kent. His father is of Irish descent and his mother is from Dublin. George eventually left the group and started his own band called Sex Gang Children, but changed the name to Culture Club. Famed for singles such as Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Boy George became an international hit.
