A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an attack in Ardwick. Officers were called to Markfield Avenue on Saturday evening (September 7) after reports of a serious assault.
A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the air ambulance was called. Police have now issued an update on the case, confirming they have arrested a 16-year-old male on suspicion of assault.

Pictures from the scene showed a cordon in place with crime scene investigators carrying out work on Markfield Avenue. In a statement on Saturday evening, GMP said: "At around 5pm today (7 September) officers responded to reports of a serious assault on Markfield Avenue, Manchester. "One male has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains for treatment.
