Boy, 15, fatally stabbed near school gates named by police

The teenage boy who was fatally stabbed outside school gates on Wednesday (September 21) has today been identified by police.

Khayri McLean, 15, died after being attacked close to the entrance of North Huddersfield Trust School in Woodhouse Hill. The incident, at around 2.45pm, sparked a huge emergency services presence in the area, where the teenager was treated before being taken to hospital in a 'critical condition'.

A 16-year-old boy remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Huddersfield shortly before 5am on Thursday.

Police said the attack is being treated as a targeted incident with specialist detectives continuing to conduct enquiries across the Huddersfield area.
