A teenager who died in a Northumbria river yesterday has been named by police, as his family issue a heartfelt tribute to the youngster.
Police has named the boy as 13-year-old Robert Hattersley, of Crawcrook, who tragically died after coming into trouble in the River Tyne near Ovingham.
Emergency services were deployed to the area shortly before 4.15pm yesterday and searches for him were carried out by a number of organisations including police, HM Coastguard and Mountain Rescue.
Sadly, Robert’s body was later found in the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene. In a message posted on social media by Northumbria Police, Robert’s family said: “It is impossible to put into words the heartbreak we are feeling – Robert was so kind and loving.
