Scots boxing star Nathaniel Collins has thanked the doctor who saved his life after being rushed into hospital this week.The British, Commonwealth and European silver featherweight champion – who has been tipped to reach world level – took suddenly unwell on Monday, with his body starting to shake uncontrollably.
The Bearsden fighter was taken to hospital where medics declared he had a twisted bowel, a situation that was deemed life-threatening.The 27-year-old then underwent more than eight hours of emergency surgery to untwist the bowel and repair the damage.
Thankfully the procedure went well and Collins – who is undefeated after 15 fights and won the European title just two weeks ago – is now recovering with the support of his family and friends.
But the Kynoch Boxing fighter explained on social media just how close a call it had been.He said: “Thought I would post a quick update as very few people know and everyone is wondering why I am so quiet/not got back to them.
