Boris Johnson admits 'mistake' after not wearing face mask during hospital visit

Boris Johnson has apologised for not wearing a face mask during a visit to a hospital last week. The prime minister insisted he only took his face covering off for “barely 30 seconds” after he was pictured meeting members of staff at Hexham General Hospital without a mask on November 8.

He admitted he made a mistake but said he put his mask back on as soon as he realised. Today, Mr Johnson appeared in front of Parliament’s Liaison Committee and was questioned by Home Affairs Select Committee chair Yvette
