Boots to close 300 stores as first locations to shut within days revealed - full list

Boots has confirmed it will begin closing the first few of 300 axed stores across the UK within the next few days. The Pharmacy chain, which employs around 52,000 people, recently announced it would be slashing the number of stores it operates from around 2,200 to just 1,900.No Scottish stores have been affected by the first wave of closures that include: Heathside Rd, Woking (end of July), UEA campus (end of July), Hamlet Ct Rd, Westcliff-on-Sea (August 1), Windhill Road, Wakefield (October 6) and Upper Warrengate, Wakefield (October 7).Glastonbury's store is also set to be closing on October 13.

Meanwhile, Guildford Road, Woking is due to close by the end of October.Boots has confirmed that in most cases there will be an alternative store within three miles after the first wave of closures has been completed.

A spokesperson for Boots said today: "We can confirm that the stores listed are part of the Boots store consolidation programme previously announced.

All team members from these stores will be offered alternative roles.”As reported by the Mirror, it comes despite the chain posting strong quarterly results with retail sales up 13.4% and a ninth consecutive quarter of market share growth.The report stated: "Over the next year Boots will continue to consolidate a number of stores in close proximity to each other."Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up to date environment."Stores at Salford Shopping Centre in Greater Manchester, Church Street, Malvern, The Port Arcades Shopping Centre, Ellesmere, and
