Boots has revealed more locations of stores that are set to close their doors for good, following the retailer's plan to axe 300 branches that are within close proximity to each other.The retailer confirmed the first wave of closures to hit seven UK shops last month, with another eight planned to shut over the next few weeks - although no Scottish locations are currently affected by the closures.As reported by the Mirror, two new locations have just been revealed, although no dates have been confirmed.This includes Boots pharmacy at Jardine Crescent in Tile Hill, Coventry as reported by Coventry Live, Meanwhile, Boots on Front Street in Prudhoe is also set to close, according to The Hexham Courant.A spokesperson for Boots said: "We can confirm that the stores listed are part of the Boots store consolidation programme previously announced.
All team members from these stores will be offered alternative roles."The closures come after the high-street chemist's US owners recently announced that it would be downsizing its portfolio of stores it operates from around 2,200 to just 1,900.Boots said shoppers affected by the closures will have alternative store less than three miles away.
All affected staff members have also been offered opportunities in other stores in the local area.The retailer, which employs around 52,000 people, previously closed more than 200 stores over an 18 month period back in 2019. Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond.
