Dustin Poirier's victory over Dan Hooker at UFC on ESPN 12 on Saturday is being hailed as one of the best lightweight fights in the sport's history.
Poirier took home the ninth post-fight bonus of his career following the bout, with Hooker also pocketing a bonus after their clash was a no-brainer for 'Fight of the Night'.
The two were locked in a back-and-forth war that went to the judges’ scorecards in the main event in Las Vegas. While it was a close call, Poirier (26-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC) walked away with a unanimous decision win, scoring 48-47, 48-47 and 48-46.
New Zealander Hooker (20-9 MMA, 10-5 UFC) claimed the first two rounds before his American opponent (27-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC) fought back to win the final three.
