The Trotters have played much of this season with a back three, which has mostly consisted of a combination of the likes of Ricardo Almeida Santos, Ryan Delaney, Alex Baptiste, Harry Brockbank, and Reiss Greenidge.
But against the Grecians on Tuesday evening, the Trotters lined up with a flat back four with the central defensive partnership of Santos and Delaney, with Gethin Jones and Brockbank on the flanks.It meant Wanderers could employ more width in the final third with Lloyd Isgrove and Nathan Delfouneso pushed out wide with Eoin Doyle through the middle.
Arthur Gnahoua also returned to the matchday squad and came off the bench to score the equaliser against Exeter to earn Wanderers a point on the road in Devon.
