Two friends from Bolton managed to hitchhike from the UK to Gelsenkirchen in Germany - and arrived in time to watch England’s game against Serbia.
Kian Patel, 23, and Mujaahid Chaudhry, 21, saved hundreds of pounds in travel costs by sharing lifts and camping across Europe.
Kian is an ambassador for Columbia Hike Society, and was challenged by the outdoor brand Columbia to travel to Germany under his own steam.
Joined by his friend Mujaahid, they embarked on an epic journey across five countries and hundreds of miles, but estimate that they managed to save around £1,000 compared to flying directly, especially as plane ticket prices have soared due to the tournament.
