Naman Ramachandran “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank,” Amar Kaushik‘s sequel to his 2018 horror-comedy hit “Stree,” is on its way to becoming one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of the year.
Produced by Maddock Films and billionaire Mukesh Ambani‘s Jio Studios, the film released on Thursday, Aug.

It had grossed $33.7 million through Sunday, in just four days of release, surpassing the $21.5 million lifetime earnings of “Stree.” Set in the small town of Chanderi, in “Stree,” the menfolk lived in fear of an evil spirit named Stree who abducts men in the night.
The film, written by the prolific Raj & DK pair and Sumit Arora, was based on the folk legend of “Naale Ba” from the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
