Police investigating alleged sexual assaults at a hospital arrested a man on Tuesday morning (March 21). Lancashire Police were contacted by Blackpool Victoria Hospital last Tuesday (March 14), who reported a number of allegations of sexual assault on staff members had been made to them.
Following enquiries, a man was arrested suspicion of sexual assault and is in custody. The man, a medical professional at the hospital, has been suspended by the health trust.
Lancashire Police reassured the public a 'thorough and transparent' investigation is ongoing, noting: "We recognise this arrest, and the nature of the allegations, may cause alarm and distress". I recognise the concern this news may cause both within the hospital and in the wider community but please be reassured we have a dedicated team of officers working to establish what has occurred. “These are complex and sensitive allegations which we are committed to investigating professionally and thoroughly.
