Marvel’s Black Widow has just stormed past the Fast and Furious 9 pandemic-era box office opening record in US cinemas by a whopping $10million (£7.3m).Even more impressively, this feat doesn’t take into account the additional $60m (£43.4m) Disney said the film raked in on Disney Plus.Black Widow is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and heralds the arrival of Phase Four of the MCU.It was initially slated for a May 2020 release before Disney, after three delays, settled on a split release between cinemas and streaming for July 2021.The Walt Disney Company now reports that Black Widow captured $80m (£57.7m) at the domestic (US) box office on its debut, breezing past Fast and Furious 9’s previous.
