Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract after it released her latest film on its streaming service. The American actress claims to have lost out on a significant part of her earnings for the new Marvel film Black Widow after the media giant decided to make it available simultaneously on Disney Plus and in cinemas.
It is thought her loss of earnings could total a staggering $49million (€41m). In a lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles Supreme Court yesterday, Ms Johansson, 36, has claimed she had an agreement with the House of Mouse that the film would be exclusively released on the big screen.
As is common with stars of blockbuster movies, a large part of her salary was reliant on box office performance, she has claimed.
