A man from Bury has been prosecuted for fly-tipping after dumping 15 bin bags infested with maggots. Dan Milhail Motatu, 34, of Downham Crescent in Prestwich, was caught on CCTV in July last year dumping the foul-smelling rubbish on Cambridge Street in Salford.
Mr Motatu was invited to three interviews but failed to attend or cooperate with an investigation, and was prosecuted by Salford council. READ MORE: Salford council 'exploring plan' to buy second shopping centre He pleaded guilty at Manchester Magistrates Court on July 26 and was slapped with a £533 fine.
He was also ordered to pay £1,250 in costs and a £221 victim surcharge. Salford council has also prosecuted a second man for fly-tipping at the same location on Cambridge Street.
Abdou Salam Bocoum, 34, of Thornbank North in Bolton, was caught on camera dumping cardboard, plastic trays and other waste in March 2023.
