Former BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull used to go down to the end of his garden and yell at his cancer to help him cope with his emotions. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant sadly died on Wednesday aged 66 after a battle with prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with five years ago.

In a statement, a spokesperson on behalf of the family said: “Following a challenging and committed fight against prostate cancer, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family on Wednesday, 31 August. "Bill was resolutely positive and was hugely buoyed by the support he received from friends, colleagues, and messages from people wishing him luck.

It was a great comfort to Bill that so many more men are now testing earlier for this disease." Tributes have flooded in for the beloved presenter, including from his former co-host Susanna Reid, who described Bill as the "kindest, funniest, most generous man in the business".

Since his diagnosis, Bill campaigned to raise awareness among those at risk as an ambassador for Prostate Cancer UK and also spoke openly about his own battle with the disease.
