As many as 2,500 people are expected to descend on The Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr next weekend - as Comic Con makes its welcome return to the region.Organisers BGCP Comic Con have promised that this year’s event, on Saturday, June 3, will be another one to savour - as fans gear up to gather for a celebration of their favourite comic and movie characters.A spokesperson for the organisers said: “BGCP Comic Con made its Covid-postponed return to the Citadel in June 2022 with a blockbuster crowd of 2,500 attending, so we aim to make it even bigger for the 2023 event.”Attendees will be able to see props from all the blockbuster Marvel, DC, Star Wars movies and beyond, as well as enjoy a selection of arcade machines and consoles with thousands of games on offer - all for free. And there’s every chance the likes of Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Dr Strange, Captain America, Bumblebee - and other cosplay - will add to the colour of the occasion. The spokesperson said: “BGCP made its debut in Ayr back in 2018 and have ran annual Comic Cons, as well as smaller Comic and Toy Markets at Ayr Central Shopping Centre ever since- with thousands attending every time.“Since Covid ended and BGCP hit the road, they started running weekly events all over the country with a mixture of venues including town halls, leisure centres, shopping centres, train stations and everything in between, which has allowed them to bring in some unique costumes such as the eight-foot tall Transformers Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, who send crowds into frenzies when they appear. The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get all the local news in your area – plus features, football news and the latest on the coronavirus crisis – at your fingertips 24/7.The free
