In the hit movie, the young Josh Baskin went to a fortune-telling machine and wished to be made big.The next morning the character woke up in the body of an adult – which was played by Tom Hanks.Hanks prepared for the role by watching videotapes of Moscow performing all of his scenes in the film with the other actors.The “Forrest Gump” star also studied Moscow’s body movements while he was playing with his friends in the park.Hanks received an Oscar nomination for his performance.“He kind of took all the quirky things about being a kid — those weird, awkward things — and [tuned] them up and had them live in him,” Moscow shared with People in 2024.The television personality who was only 13 years old when the film debuted added that Hanks was “not pretentious” and would often come to work in a backpack and take the subway.“He was a big kid.
