Perthshire Advertiser photographer Richard Wilkins was on hand to capture the moment thousands of cyclists took off from the Gran Fondo starting line in Perth this morning.Competitors are taking part in the 85km (52.8 miles) Medio Fondo and 160km (99.4 miles) Gran Fondo, which began at 10.00am and 10.50am respectively.Both races, part of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, began at Tay Street in Perth before finishing at Scone Palace in the afternoon.The Grand Fondo riders passed through a number of locations, including Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, and Kirkmichael.It is hoped the event will generate an estimated £2.7m to the local economy.About 2,075 competitors took part.
