Ellise Shafer The Berlin Film Festival is unveiling the full lineup for its 75th edition, which is set to take place from Feb.
13 to 23. This year’s festival will mark the debut of new artistic director Tricia Tuttle, who previously helmed the BFI London Film Festival.
As previously announced, the fest will open with Tom Tykwer’s “The Light,” the German director’s return to the big screen after seven years and four seasons working on the hit series “Babylon Berlin.” Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17,” a sci-fi black comedy starring Robert Pattinson, is set to play in the Berlinale Special section alongside Justin Kurzel’s World War II series “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” headlined by Jacob Elordi.
Hot off of its world premiere at Sundance, the Benedict Cumberbatch drama “The Thing With Feathers” will also screen in Berlinale Special, as will Min Kyu-dong’s “The Old Woman With the Knife” and Anna Muylaert’s “The Best Mother in the World.” This year’s Berlinale will also feature a special screening of Claude Lanzmann’s 1985 Holocaust film “Shoah,” a groundbreaking documentary made over 12 years featuring interviews with survivors, bystanders and perpetrators.
