Benfica close to sealing transfer deal for Man City defender
manchestereveningnews.co.ukBenfica are closing in on the loan signing of Manchester City defender Issa Kabore. Kabore, 23, signed for City in 2020 but has not yet played a competitive game under Pep Guardiola.
After loans at Mechelen, Troyes, and Marseille, Kabore spent last year in the Premier League playing for Luton Town. His displays have been enough to earn considerable interest in the transfer window, with several English and European clubs enquiring with City about him this summer.
With a few days left before the window closes, Benfica are expected to take Kabore on a season-long loan that will not include any option or obligation to buy. With three years remaining on his contract at the Etihad, there is no rush to sign him up to another deal before he has another opportunity to impress in a top league.
