Hit original UK series, The Office is returning after 20 years off-screen, and this time, it’s going to Australia.The sitcom starring the likes of Ricky Gervais, Martin Freeman, Mackenzie Crook and Sally Bretton that first aired in 2001, will return for a spin-off later this year.
Prime have announced they’ve commissioned a new series in Australia with actress and comedian Felicity Ward at the helm, and it will air in two months’ time.The Office has had many adaptations around the world, from France, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Chile, Israel, Czech Republic to the very popular US version.
The synopsis of the Australian adoption reads: “In The Office, Hannah Howard is the managing director of packaging company Flinley Craddick.
When she gets news from Head Office that they will be shutting down her branch and making everyone work from home, she goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her “work family” together. “The staff of Flinley Craddick indulge her and must endure Hannah’s outlandish plots as they work toward the impossible targets that have been set for them.” The new series will consist of 8 episodes which are believed to all drop at once on Friday 18 August.
