Bella Hadid Looks Back at Being 'Abused' in Past Relationships

Bella Hadid is opening up about her past relationships. In a new interview on Victoria’s Secret‘s “VS Voices” podcast, the 25-year-old model looked back at being “abused” in past relationships. Click inside to read more… “I constantly went back to men – and also, women – that had abused me and that’s where the people pleasing came in,” Bella said. “I started not having boundaries, not only sexually, physically, emotionally, but then it went into my work space.

I began to be a people-pleaser with my job.” Bella went on to recall not being heard by those closest to her when she was younger. “I always felt like my voice was never heard growing up,” Bella remembered. “I grew up around men – whether that was in relationships or family or whatever that was – where I was constantly told that my voice was less important than their voice.” She continued, “Then moving into relationships growing up, and not having the boundaries of being able to stick up for myself and have my voice being heard, affected me in my adult relationships very intensely.

My nervous system would crash. It was fight or flight.” Over the years, Bella has tried to keep her love life out of the spotlight, but she did date The Weeknd from early 2015 until November 2016.

They rekindled their relationship in May 2018 before splitting again in August 2019.
