For gran Carol Quinn the past 20 years have been a living nightmare. On July 17, 2000, she and husband Harry went to her daughter Claire’s house and found her lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.
Upstairs, her grandchildren Keiran, eight, and Jade, seven, had been strangled. The culprit was Phillip Austin – Claire’s husband and the children’s father – who was caught a week later.
The following March he pleaded guilty to three murders but was ordered to serve just 20 years in jail for wiping out his family in Northampton.
Now 51, he is up for parole despite never explaining his actions or showing remorse. But Carol, 72, Harry and their son Matthew, 48, say Austin should never be freed.
