E4 reality show Made in Chelsea and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games are two programmes you would never expect to see in the same sentence - however, viewers have taken to social media to point out a surprise connection between the two during Friday night's opening ceremony. The 2024 Olympic Games kicked off on Friday with a grand opening ceremony, taking place on the River Seine - with some of Europe's greatest hits being played throughout.

From Darude's Sandstorm to Gala's Freed from Desire, the most popular tunes to come from the continent were played as a cast of dancers showed off their best moves on a moving barge.

However, one particular song took British viewers by surprise, with many recognising it as the theme song to E4's Made in Chelsea. "Why they playing the Made in Chelsea song? #OpeningCeremony #ceremoniedouverture," one viewer wrote.

Another said: "Not Made in Chelsea down the Seine! #Olympics #OpeningCeremony #Paris2024." Another confused viewer wrote: "Is made in chelsea on?? #paris2024 #Opening Ceremony." Another said: "Little Made in Chelsea nod there? #OpeningCeremony." While there could well be Made in Chelsea fans in France, its theme song Midnight City was most likely played as it belongs to French electronic group M83.
