She first appeared on our TV screens as Tina McIntyre in the Manchester soap Coronation Street in 2008. Michelle was in her early 20s when she landed the role and was said to have beat 900 other people who were also auditioning for the part.
In 2008, she won her first award for Best TV Newcomer at the British Soap Awards and she also won Sexiest Female for six years in a row at the British Soap Awards between 2009 and 2014.
After six years on the soap, in 2013 she decided to leave and take the next step in her career. In a statement at the time, Michelle said: "I have had the most amazing 6 years at Coronation Street and it was such a difficult decision to leave. "But I felt it was the right time for me to make the next step in my career.
