Strictly Come Dancing has already returned to our screens in fun and colourful fashion but the competition officially begins this weekend when the new crop of celebrities perform for the first time in their couples.

Viewers of the BBC One dance contest were already treated to an energetic group performance during the 2024 launch show where they were told for the first time which of the 15 new contestants had been partnered with which professional dancer.

All eyes were definitely on the new couples with the pairings including Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez, Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones, Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu, JB Gill and Amy Dowden, Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin, and Paul Merson and Karen Hauer. While the foursome will be handing out their scores during the show, which kicks off at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, the couples can breathe a slight sigh of relief as nobody will be leaving the competition.
